Dear praying friends and family,
Thank you for helping us with your prayers (and tender words, yummy meals, and thoughtful gifts!)!
Here’s the latest:
- Good News: My surgeon is impressed with how well I’m healing. And just when I need encouragement, someone or something reminds me I am dearly loved.
- “Wishing it could be different” News: The Oncotype test came back high. The higher the score, the higher the chance of recurrence. My tumor scored in the top 10%. Studies show that chemotherapy on these types of tumors reduces my risk of recurrence by about 30%. We had asked God to spare me the suffering of chemo, but now I ask you to join me in praying for His strength to sustain me (even bless many!) through the suffering.
- Port placed Mon. 12/28. Chemo 12/29.
Yesterday, I was praying for myself:
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13
It struck me – I need Joy and Peace – and I will receive it as I TRUST IN HIM. And I will overflow with hope – supernaturally!!
The only way to walk on water – and not drown in the very real wind and waves! – is to keep my eyes locked on Jesus, trusting Him. I know this, but please pray I learn to live in the truth more and more. For me, this is the key to joy, peace, and overflowing with hope.
Before my diagnosis this fall, a dear student attended the same Hillsong United concert we attended. She came to class beaming, “When they sang ‘Oceans,’ I thought of you, Mrs. Michel!” Will you pray the truth of these lyrics will be more and more real in my life? Thanking God for you!!
Waking to the wonder of Emmanuel – God with us – more and more,
Becky
“He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us again. On him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us, as you help us by your prayers. Then many will give thanks on our behalf for the gracious favor granted us in answer to the prayers of many.” (2 Cor 1:10-11)
